Examples of old-school 16mm film animation using various traditional mediums such as watercolor, chalk, color pencil and pen. I varied the lines from loose to tight, testing the drawing effects on motion. One frame of film animation is 24 frames per second although like many animators I made 12 drawings per second. A short film piece is a pretty tall stack of drawings. Oh, and you used to have to wait for your film to be developed!
I fell in love with painting at the age of four and never stopped. What began as a childhood obsession grew into a lifelong passion, eventually leading me to study painting at UC San Diego. There, I was fortunate to learn from visionary artists like Manny Farber, Ernie Silva, David Antin, and Standish Lawder—each of whom helped shape my understanding of art as both a discipline and a way of seeing the world.
